Mondo Description Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (ZES) is characterized by severe peptic disease (ulcers/esophageal disease) caused by hypergastrinemia secondary to a gastrinoma resulting in increased gastric acid secretion.
Disease Ontology Description A syndrome that is haracterized by the development of a one or more tumors (gastrinoma) in the pancreas, duodenum, or both that secrete excessive levels of gastrin, a hormone that stimulates production of acid by the stomach.
