A connective tissue disorder characterized by hyperextensible skin, atrophic cutaneous scars due to tissue fragility and joint hyperlaxity. In addition to joint laxity, skin hyperextensibility and friability, and abnormal scar formation, patients have mitral valve prolapse and insufficiency, mitral regurgitation, and aortic insufficiency.
