Mondo Description Bilateral frontoparietal polymicrogyria (BFPP) is a sub-type of polymicrogyria (PMG), a cerebral cortical malformation characterized by excessive cortical folding and abnormal cortical layering, that involves the frontoparietal region of the brain and that presents with hypotonia, developmental delay, moderate to severe intellectual disability, pyramidal signs, epileptic seizures, non progressive cerebellar ataxia, dysconjugate gaze and/or strabismus.
Uniprot Description A malformation of the cortex in which the brain surface is irregular and characterized by an excessive number of small gyri with abnormal lamination, most severe in the frontoparietal regions. BFPP clinical manifestations include developmental and psychomotor delay, cerebellar and pyramidal signs, truncal ataxia, seizures, hyperreflexia. Polymicrogyria is a heterogeneous disorder, considered to be the result of postmigratory abnormal cortical organization.
